6 Summer Skincare Tips

The skin is one of the most important defense of our body against environmental hazards. The skin is the first barrier from unwanted organisms and particles. Imagine having no skin and being vulnerable to the things in your environment. This is why skin care is an important part of your daily routine. Proper skin care can make you look years younger and it can also help prevent future skin diseases and problems. Proper skin care varies. It depends on your age, skin type and environment. Since summer is here, it is best to concentrate our skin care in protecting it against excess sun exposure.  Here are a few tips on how to care for your skin this summer.

  1. Keep Your Skin Clean

During summer, the skin tends to sweat more than usual, produce more oil than the usual and also the pores are more open than usual. Keeping your skin clean before going to bed and upon waking up prevents the seeping of dirt into your pores, which might cause blackheads, whiteheads and small bumps in the face and unwanted body odor in the crevices of the skin. Regular body hygiene is a top priority during the summer time.

  1. Exfoliate

Exfoliating removes the dead and dull skin cells, thus, preventing congestion of dirt. This can also help hydrate the skin when using toner and the absorption of moisturizers. Exfoliation is best done in the morning before the use of toner, moisturizers, sunblock and make-up. It is said that make-up stays longer for a well exfoliated skin. It is highly recommended to always use moisturizers when exfoliating to prevent drying of the skin.

  1. Protect Your Lips

The lips can be a woman’s great asset. During summer time, the lips can also be a victim and so it must also be taken care of. To care for the lips, a great way is to use lip balms with SPFs. There are many brands of lip balms which can protect the lips from the sun’s rays. This can make your lips look more alive, plump and is less likely to go dry and chap.

  1. Sunscreen

The most basic sun protection, whether it’s for the beach or for a quick stroll in the park, a great sunscreen can help protect you from harsh rays from the sun. There are lots of sunscreens nowadays which can give maximum protection at the same time dries quickly and feels so light. Some even claims to hold make up for a long period of time which can make your make up stay longer. It is advised to put sunscreen before leaving the shaded area and to reapply frequently.

  1. 10AM To 3PM

The sun is good for you, it can activate your Vitamin D production which helps in Calcium absorption needed by your bones. Excessive exposure to the sun rather, can be a great threat to your skin. It might lead to sunburns, skin cancers and other skin problems. Skin exposure must be at a limited time and also at a chosen time of day. 10Am to 3Pm are the hottest hours of the day and radiation is emitted at higher amounts during these hours of the day and it is not advised to bask under the sun during these hours.

  1. Water

During the summer days, it is unavoidable to sweat. Through sweating we lose the fluids and electrolytes our body needs. Drinking more than 8 glasses of water a days is highly encouraged especially after doing strenuous activities; this is to prevent dehydration which might cause serious effects. Always bring bottled water anywhere; this will encourage you to drink more water. Being well hydrated also helps in making your skin look great and is needed during the summer time for it will help moisturize your skin.
