Minimize The Size Of Your Pores With These Simple Tips

A smooth and flawless face is always aesthetically pleasing to look at. However, not everyone is gifted with such. Many times, stress, genetics and environmental factors could lead to having large pores that are often too obvious.

Pores are tiny openings of hair follicles found in the skin. When it’s clogged and filled with dirt, oil, grime and dead skin, it could become larger. If left unclean, it could eventually cause whiteheads and blackheads that soon lead to pimples, also known as acne. This could sometimes cause damage to the skin and leaves a scar. Unfortunately, one cannot change the size of the pores in her face. However, there are ways in which its appearance could become smaller. With the proper cleansing and care, these things could be minimized and made to look less obvious.

Take Care Of Your Skin

To keep dirt of your pores, it is important that you always keep your face clean. After a long day at work or a hard night of partying, always remember to remove your makeup with a mild makeup remover. The buildup from the chemicals and ingredients in the makeup could clog pores and the best way to prevent this from happening is by removing all traces of the product in your face.

After this, wash your face with warm water and a gentle cleanser. Before you begin cleaning your face with the gentle soap, splash your face first with the warm water so that any hints of the makeup remover would be washed off. Once you apply the gentle soap, do circular motions in your face to massage it. Rinse well.

Always remember that warm water must be used, not hot, as doing so could cause dryness to your skin and could make it blotchy and red. To dry your face, use gentle patting motions with a soft towel to absorb the water. Do not scrub your face with it.

At least twice a week, exfoliate your face so the dead skin cells are removed. Use an exfoliating scrub or a soft bristle brush to gently scrub your face. You could also opt to make your own DIY scrub to save a few dollars.

End the routine by applying a moisturizer and SPF (during the day) to keep your skin hydrated and your pores not dried out.

Treat Your Skin

There are different treatments available to minimize pores. But if you want to do it at home, these are some of the things you could do to achieve it.

• Do a steam treatment – steam is effective in opening up pores so that it could be completely cleaned out. Simply pour boiling water into a bowl and thrown rose petals or peppermint green tea bag for the added scent. Hold your face above the bowl and the steam coming up from it. Cover your face and the bowl with a towel to keep the steam from escaping. Rinse after with cold water. Remember not to put anything on your face for at lest 8 hours after the steam treatment as it could only clog the pores.

• Use toners – After you clean your face and before you put on moisturizer, cleanse it again with natural toners that contain witch hazel or tea tree oil. Avoid any product that contains peroxide and alcohol as these two chemicals could make your skin dry.

• Exfoliate with baking soda – Another kitchen staple, baking soda could be used as an alternative to an exfoliating scrub. Simply make a paste after mixing four teaspoons of the baking soda with one tablespoon of water. Before you apply it, make sure that you let the mixture sit for at least two minutes first. Apply on damp face and massage it around using circular motions. Include the skin on your neck when you exfoliate and then rinse it off with warm water. Once the mixture has been completely removed form your face, splash it with cold water to close off the pores

• Have regular facials from the dermatologist to keep your skin health and pores looking smaller.
