Ten Practical Uses Of Coke

Coca-Cola is perhaps the most well-known brand in the world. It is also claimed to be one of the most harmful food products that people often consume. Aside from being highly acidic, Coca-Cola is packed with sugar, preservatives, and other chemicals that can be harmful to the body. And yet, people continue to consume Coke because it’s a great way to quench thirst, it can be coupled with any meal, and it’s very affordable. Health-aware people usually steer clear of carbonated products such as Coke but there are actually other uses for Coke apart from consumption.

1. Pest Control.

Keeping a small bowl of Coke in the open is a great way to control pests. It can attract snails and slugs, and then kill them with its high acidic content. It can also lure wasps and other small, flying insects, and kill them when they drown in the liquid. You can even get rid of an anthill by generously pouring Coke inside the anthill and all around the area.

2. Rust Remover.

The citric acid in Coke makes it a great rust remover. Just soak your rusted object in Coke for 24 hours then rinse it with water the next day to remove any stickiness. Alternatively, you can try using a fabric or sponge dipped in Coke and running it all over the rusted area. You can also use Coke to loosen rusty bolts by pouring some on the area.

3. Toilet Cleanser.

4. Window Cleanser.

The citric acid in Coke is what makes it a great cleanser. Citric acid is one of the main components used for cleaning window panes and so, Coke can make an excellent alternative. Soak a cloth with Coke and rub it on your window until all dirt and stains have been removed. Afterwards, wash the glass pane with water to remove any residue and to prevent the sugary beverage from hardening on the glass.

5. Defrosting Windshield.

One effective method of removing ice from your car’s windshield during those cold, snowy winter months is by using Coke. Pour a liberal amount of Coke across your windshield and wait a minute or two for the ice to turn to slush. This would then make the ice’s removal much easier.

6. Removing Tile Grout.

Another cleansing application of Coke is by using it to remove tile grout. Pour Coke all over your kitchen and bathroom floor, leave for a couple of minutes, then wash and wipe with water.

7. Fertilize Some Plants.

There are actually some plants that prefer and thrive better in acidic soil. Some examples include Azaleas, Gardenias, and blueberries. Pouring some Coke on the roots of these plants acidifies the soil and optimizes their growth. Additionally, the sugar will attract helpful microorganisms that keep the soil and the plant healthy.

8. Clean Car Battery.

Since Coke is already slightly acidic on its own, it does not react with the battery acid unlike water. Clean your car’s battery terminals by pouring Coke all over the battery and wiping it with a cloth, washing away the corrosion in the process.

9. Stain Remover.
