10 DIY Makeup Organizer Ideas

All women are aware of the fact that having one of each type of makeup is simply not enough. After all, wearing the same shade of lipstick, or having the same eye shadow colour every single day is too repetitive and your look can get pretty boring over time. Plus, it discourages creativity when it comes to enhancing your look and appearance. One of the best parts of getting ready for the day is matching your makeup with your outfit, after all. That’s why women tend to hoard a lot of cosmetics, so much that they can’t keep track of which products they have, leading to a messy vanity and disorganized makeup products and makeup brushes. Luckily, there are a lot of simple ways you can organize your cosmetics without having to spend much time and effort. Here are ten DIY makeup organizer ideas that can help you get started on spring cleaning your vanity.

  1. Shoe Organizer

You can use one of those cheap shoe organizers that you can hang at the back of a closet door for your makeups instead. Choose one with as much pouches as you deem necessary to accommodate all of your makeups and brushes.

  1. Floral Foam

Make a bunch of holes on a piece of floral foam for your makeup brushes and makeup essentials like lipstick, eyeliner, and powder. Place a test tube inside the hole then top it with grommet. Add some studs for décor and then just place your essentials inside the test tubes.

  1. Drawer Dividers

Divide your vanity drawer into efficient sections using any container you find in your home such as a shoebox, or a plastic microwavable container, and such. Alternatively, you can buy drawer dividers in your local home improvement store.

  1. Bowl

Turn a spare bowl into a makeup and makeup brush holder for easy access and elegant organization. Although any bowl will work, glass bowls will look especially classy for your brushes.  Fill the bowl with a bunch of shiny, decorative stones then stick your makeup brushes in it upright to keep it clean.

  1. Magnetic Board

This DIY makeup organizer requires a little more effort but is definitely worth the time. Start by tacky spraying a decorative fabric over a sheet of metal then place it in a frame. Glue some magnets on the bottom of your makeup essentials so you can then place it on the metal frame for easy access.

Since jars are practically everywhere and are often used to package food, you’ll definitely be able to find a couple of jars that you can use for storing and organizing your makeup. Separate each type of makeup so you’ll know which jar to reach for. Just don’t get too lazy to put your makeups back in their place.

Spice racks won’t just efficiently hold your spices—it can hold your nail polishes as well. This way, you’ll be able to easily view and reach for the nail polish colour you want. You can also use the spice rack for your other makeups such as foundation, CC creams, concealers, and more.

Use an all-purpose adhesive to stick some copper tubes on top of a plexiglass sheet. You can then place your lipsticks and other tubed makeups such as mascara or eyeliner into the copper for easy access. You can even place some wood plugs at the bottom of the plexiglass sheet to easily lift it up.
