7 Simple Cooking Hacks Everyone Should Know

Cooking food is never an easy task. There are a lot of things one would need to consider and do before the actual cooking takes place such as peeling and slicing the ingredients. If you’ve ever struggled in preparing for your dishes before, here are some kitchen hacks you could try to make your chores a little easier than usual.

Open Tight-Lidded Jars

New jars of food are often sealed really tight to keep its freshness and prevent any spills or germs from entering. But sometimes, the lids are so tight that one could not help but wish for superpowers when it needs to be opened. Luckily, there are different ways to open this without breaking your arm.
• Duct Tape – this heavy duty tape is very sticky so you would only need a small amount. Cover half the lid with duct tape and pull. Hard. The lid would pop off with the tape,
• Hair Dryer – this electronic gadget is not only useful for the hair, it could also be used to blast some hot air into the lid to expand it and it would soon be very easy to remove the lid.
• Rubber Bands – just like the duct tape, rubber bands could be used to secure the lid for a better grip when you unscrew it.
• Lighter – because the heat helps in expanding the lid of the jar, you could use the lighter to warm the circumference of the lid that comes in contact with the glass. Be sure to use a towel when you unscrew as the surface could be very hot.

Keep Cookies Fresh And Soft

There’s nothing more delicious than a batch of freshly baked cookies from the oven. Leftovers are often popped into container with seal but even that is not enough to keep the air from coming in contact with the cookie and toughening it up. If you want to prolong your homemade cookies’ freshness and keep it from going stale, throw in a fresh slice of bread into the cookie container to keep it soft. The bread’s moisture would work on the cookies through osmosis to keep it delicious and yummy for a few more days.

Reheat Leftover Pizza To Make It Crispy Again

When leftover pizza slices are reheated using the microwave, its consistency does not return to what it used to be – crisp and crunchy. So if you want to give your pizza a new lease on life and return it to its former glory, heat the leftover slices via pan or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.

Oven Baked Hard Boiled Eggs

If you prefer to make hardboiled eggs using your oven instead of the stove, you can actually do so. Find a baking tray and place the fresh eggs for baking at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Once done, soak them in a bowl with ice cubes and water to keep the heat from further cooking the inside.

Open Canned Goods And Its Contents Easily

Sometimes canned goods could be a pain especially when the consistency of the food inside prevents all its contents from coming out. To address this, one must release the pressure inside the can for a smoother transfer of contents. Before opening the can, make some holes and it would help the food to come out easier than before.

Make Perfectly Round Eggs

Perfect and round eggs are hard to come by and at most they could be a miracle. But there’s a trick that would allow an amateur to score the perfect ones. Get a huge onion and slice it in the middle for a round piece. Place it in the middle of the pan and crack the egg inside it to keep it from spilling. If you do not like the taste or smell of an onion, you could use a Mason jar lid instead.

Grill Fish The Right Way

Getting that perfectly grilled salmon or tuna belly without having it stick to the grill (and ruining it in the process) is very difficult. But this could be addressed with simply adding a bed of lemon slices underneath the fish meat to act as “plate” that would prevent it from breaking down into pieces.
